Will Brita Filtered Water Damage My Keurig Coffee Maker?

Water from a standard Brita water filter will only remove some impurities from your drinking water to improve the taste of the water and help to remove unpleasant odors.

There can be many impurities still in your drinking water that could cause damage to your Keurig.

Small amounts of hard minerals like calcium and magnesium can be removed by a Brita water filter but once the Brita filter has removed all of the hard minerals that it can, the remainder of the hard minerals can get through the filter and build up inside of a Keurig machine.

Because a Brita water filter is NOT meant to remove dissolved solids like a reverse osmosis drinking water system would, dissolved solids like sodium will travel through a Brita water filter and could build up inside of a Keurig machine.

One of the most popular uses for a Brita water filter is to remove chlorine from public water suppliers because of its odor and the bad taste that it leaves in your drinking water.

Or, to make sure that your Brita water is free of all of these impurities, you could get an ALL-IN-ONE test kit that will test for hardness, iron, chlorine, lead, and many more impurities with the exception of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS).
